Why the Need for Clarity
Generally speaking, how one goes about speaking to their students or clients is their business but when that individual's clients & students begin to bother me with questions about jargon terminology you're using, then guess what? It means you are NOT effectively communicating! Hello? Because why should I or anyone else have to take up your slack?
Your students are special. They come to us to learn, not to engage in riddles, mind games or "Guess-what-meaning-I'm-implying"? Reserve the smoke & mirrors for the masses but for the devoted student, always use clarity when speaking to them or especially when using terminology. Why? There are some old terms which need to be dropped in favor of more modern terms if for nothing more than better communications and understanding.
It's time to get with the program and use modern terms which everyone understands.

VISUALIZE/VISUALIZATION (Imagination)
This is one of the biggest if not the biggest misnomers in all occult vocabulary. Why practitioners continue to use this archaic term is beyond me because it is plumb confusing. Everyone who first hears it believes it means “seeing a vision behind your eyelids” and that is false assumption YET thanks to using improper jargon, 99% of people who first hear it, misunderstand it.
What is real visualization? Nothing more than your Imagination. Period. And if you can recall a memory in any detail, then guess what? You can visualize. Those who have Aphasia are in a pickle but seriously they are in the minority and are not our problem. We cannot help those who are medically unable to form images in their mind. Thus do not waste your time trying to help them.
Magically speaking, one should use not just their Visual sense but ALL of their senses when performing Magic. You should include your:
- Auditory
- Kinesthetic
- Gustatory
- Olfactory
- as well as Visual
senses and use them in altered states of awareness for each to be effective.
THE MIND'S EYE (Focused Attention)
Mind's Eye is nothing more than your "attention"! That's all. It's where you focus your attention. Early on I as well used to be guilty of using this archaic term yet these days I just tell my students to focus their attention instead of something archaic and confusing like "Now fixate the image in your Mind's Eye!" which smacks of Roaring 1920's stage performer-speak and actually sounds really hokey when you think about it. It reminds me of what The Amazing Kreskin would say to his audience back when I watched him perform his mentalist tricks as a kid.
WARP & WOOVE (To Shape or Reshape Reality)
Old Witch’s term used to denote one using Sorcery & Magic to shape or bend reality. Not certain where or how these two terms got their start but I have heard them used more than once by the old school Witches, many of whom have passed on now.
SPIRIT (Non-Physical Entity)
This is an archaic term everyone needs to stop using, including yours truly! The fact is, spirits are Non-Physical Entities with personalities and They have likes, dislikes, attitudes, prejudices, biases, beliefs and so on - just like us.
DRESS/DRESSED (Anoint/Anointed)
This is simply an old term many candle practitioners and Hoodoo’s use to indicate anointing a candle with a specific occult oil and usually in some specific manner.
SCRY/SCRYING (Clairvoyance as in mirrors)
A term used to denote the activating of one’s clairvoyance by using a black mirror, pool of ink, or other black surface in the hopes of seeing visions.
