The idea that you're ready to do some Mojo for some big promotion or newly acquired lover is a mighty big step on the path and one that should not be taken lightly. But many ask, "Should I do this? Should I do that? What should I do?"

We've all been there including moi at one point or another. The bottom line is this: Get your mind in the right place BEFORE you begin your working, else all will be for naught!

The single most important aspect of performing a ritual as opposed to a simple spell is that you are setting aside a particular time and ready to step into the realms between the worlds to venture forth into the unknown. This SHOULD frighten you a little bit since the idea is that you're where few dare to go and even fewer dare to meddle with!

Point blank: Get your mind set in the right place. There's a time to play and a time to work. When it's time to do Sorcery or a Summoning, it's time to be serious and intent on one thing: Success!

'Git yer ducks all lined up in a row there, Skeeter!' This is why it's important to research your own desires for what it is you truly want and then figure out how you can go about this in the best way.

A ritual may be overkill whereas a spell may be ineffectual. Thus you need to do some things prior to your working:

1. Investigate Your Desires - what is it you truly want?

"I want to get laid by Jenny" but really is it just Jenny you want or to get laid? Hell maybe Jenny stinks as a lover (Wouldn't that be grand??? Hah!) No you want to 'get laid.' So instead of stacking the odds against your ritual's success, why not enchant for "To find a suitable partner & have repetative gratifying sexual release with!"?? (That is far easier to enchant for than to get into Jenny's pants)

2. Divination - throw the I Ching; cast the Astragals; pull Runes; layout the Tarot - whatever your chosen method of divination is, you should be asking a variety of questions regarding what it is you want to achieve. Why?

You may discern that what you THINK you want is NOT what you truly want! (Important)

Or are you one of those geniuses who want to waste their time, money and energy chasing a rainbow when in reality it's the damn pot o' gold at the end you desire? Get real and discern your inner feelings.

Find out if the future holds any potential success before performing this ritual. Maybe you'll discover that the likelihood of success is nil and well while you can exercise an attempt at futility with hope, you'll probably learn far more from the failure of it.

Use divination prior to all rituals.

3. Contemplate the Ritual's Ingredients - are candle's necessary? Which oils should you use? Which herbs? Roots? Should you use any particular type of Occult Bath prior or afterwards? What about talismans?

All of this should be taken into consideration prior to performing a Ritual.

4. Can I Time the Ritual for Best Affects? - this is yet another factor to consider. For while a Sorcerer seldom worries about whether or not the time is just right, it doesn't hurt to know when a good time is coming up and plan for it. Maybe that Moon-Neptune conjunction will boost the effectiveness of the ritual thus making things kick major butt!

5. Mindset: "I'm going into this to WIN!" - you MUST think like a professional here and as if you're trying to impress a sports scout to pick you for the team by playing your best. In this manner, you'd go in with the knowledge that you had chosen the right ingredients, the right time, the right ritual intent, the right mental focus and you are GOING TO SUCCEED

! Failure is NOT an option!

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
